Additional products and services for
the eChiller

Additional products such as a main / assist control, remote monitoring or maintenance or our predictive maintenance package, complete the range of eChiller products.

Main / Assist Control

Operating more than one eChiller in the same hydronic cooling system, it is recommended to use a main / assist control which activates the individual eChillers depending on the required refrigeration capacity. The main / assist control is based on the standard control, which means that no additional control unit is required to implement the cooling and chilled water loop peripheral control of the eChillers.

Further advantages of the main / assist control are that only the required number of eChillers is activated when operating in part load and that a balanced utilization with even operating hours is guaranteed.

The master / slave control offers the following additional functions:

  • Connection of main unist and assist unit via MODBUS TCP
  • Visualization of the most important machine data of the eChiller system
  • Independent connecting and disconnecting of individual eChillers depending on the refrigeration load and / or flow temperatures
  • Sequential switching of eChillers depending on availability and operating hours
  • Immediate activation of another eChiller in the event of a malfunction of an eChiller in operation
  • Adjustable minimum and maximum number of eChillers in operation
  • Control of the chilled-water-side flaps or control elements for maximum energy efficiency when switching individual eChillers on and off
  • Cyclic activation and deactivation of individual eChillers for equal hourly operating distribution

Remote Monitoring and Maintenance

Optional, remote monitoring and maintenance is offered, which allows to review the operating states of the system in real time and to optimize the settings on request and in consultation with the customer.

Access to the data is possible via a web interface and allows the evaluation and analysis of the log data. With the help of this analysis, conclusions about possible disturbances not only in the eChiller but also in the hydronic system can be drawn. Additional advantages that remote monitoring offers for the operator:

  • Consulting the customer, system optimization and fault diagnosis in real time
  • Cost savings, as in many cases on-site service can be avoided
  • Fault diagnosis not only on the eChiller but also the entire hydronic systems on the chilled and cooling water sides.


Optional, a monitoring package is offered which includes detailed reports for fixed periods (monthly / quarterly / yearly). As requirementfor the monitoring, a remote access needs to be given to Efficient Energy.

The following evaluations are included in the monitoring package:

  • Produced cooling capacity
  • Electrical power consumption
  • Annual COP (refrigeration)
  • Diagnosis report
  • Chilled water temperature
  • Compressor operating hours

Predictive Maintenance

Instead of reacting to defects and malfunction only in retrospect, predictive maintenance makes it possible to detect potential defects of the eChillers and its hydronic systems before they actually occur. Using an advanced sensor set-up, the condition of components in operation can be reliably monitored and signs of wear or defects can be detected. This enables a low-maintenance and failure-free operation of the eChiller.
