Around this year’s Earth Day, Efficient Energy participated in the “Time for Climate Action” campaign from 19.-25. April. The initiator of this campaign is the community Leaders for Climate Action, of which Efficient Energy is a member.
The aim of the campaign was to actively involve as many companies and individuals as possible in climate protection and to show that everyone can make a decisive contribution to the climate in just 5 minutes.
As a climate-neutral company and manufacturer of environmentally friendly refrigeration systems, the environment is particularly important to us. As part of the campaign, we called on customers, suppliers and partner companies, followers and of course our team to sweat for the climate. Under the motto “Sweat with us for the climate” (and save power taking a cold shower) kilometers were collected running and cycling. Efficient Energy converted the kilometers collected into tonnes of CO2 equivalents and offset them as part of a climate protection project.
Many athletes from our network participated in our sport competition for the climate. In a total of 68 sporting activities, 1,157 km were cycled and run. The overall goal of 750 km was exceeded by far and together we covered a distance from our headquarters in Feldkirchen near Munich to Rome.
The campaign is both reforesting regional mountain forests and promoting sustainable agriculture in harmony with nature in Brazil.
Even if Germany is one of the most densely forested countries in Europe, its native forests are also suffering from climate change. Large areas fall victim to forest fires and drought and heat weaken tree species such as spruce.
Mixed forests, in which oaks and pines can also be found, are therefore more resistant to climate change. Therefore, we use the collected kilometers to support the reforestation and conversion of German forests together with ClimatePartner.
As a result of the campaign, Efficient Energy will plant around 100 trees. If Corona allows, we will carry out the planting action with part of our team ourselves.
Regional projects are important for adapting to climate change, but unfortunately do not result in certified emission reductions. That is why the regional tree planting project is combined with an internationally recognized climate protection project. For every ton of CO2 compensated, not only is a tree planted in German forests, but sustainable agriculture is also promoted in Brazil. This in turn enables the protection of the rainforest from clearing. Through the athletic commitment of our network, around 59 hectares of rainforest can be protected

Here you will find the certificate confirming the compensation with the help of the kilometers collected as part of the campaign.
Huge thanks to everyone who sweated with us and a big thank you to the Leaders for Climate Action for organizing this important campaign.
