Efficient Energy has been named one of 22 finalists for the European Business Awards for the Environment with its “eChiller”. The eChiller, which is in the running for the award in the category “Product and Services”, is a highly energy-efficient cooler with water (R718) as refrigerant and minimal global warming impact.
The European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) celebrates companies at the forefront of eco-innovation who show, that respect for the environment is at the very core of their business principles. For the 10th time the European Commission will reward European companies of all sizes who have made an outstanding contribution to sustainable development. The awards are held every second year and winners are recognized in the following six categories: Management (micro and small companies), Management (medium and large companies), Product and Services, Process, Developing Country Cooperation and Business & Biodiversity.
Efficient Energy was selected as a finalist thanks to its eChiller, which is currently the only chiller worldwide available as standard that uses water (R718) as its refrigerant, which has no global warming potential, supports the EU’s climate goals and offers the unrivaled alternative for the industry being challenged with the F-Gas Regulation. The eChiller is not only very energy-efficient but because of the use of water also non-toxic, oil-free, extremely quiet, non-hazardous and very low in maintenance.
To be eligible for the European awards, Efficient Energy had to succeed first at the national level in order to be allowed to apply for the EBAE-Awards. The jury members who are experts from industry, government, NGOs, the media and academia from all over Europe were tasked with the selection of a shortlist out of 161 applications. After a tough selection process 22 companies from 9 countries, among which is also Efficient Energy, have made the shortlist for the 2018-2019 European Business Awards for the Environment.
The winners will be announced during a high-level awards ceremony hosted by the European Commission and the Austrian Ministry for Sustainability in Vienna on 14 November 2018. Efficient Energy is very proud that its eco-innovation achievements will be showcased at European level and hopes to bring this important business-sustainability award to its company site in Feldkirchen near Munich, Germany.
